Possible ? Do-able ? I ask because the site below requests a DVD.

Opensuse 11.1 has proven to be a nightmare of frozen screens,
dead WLAN, and lousy (basic) video performance.

Win 7 is available again ---> MS Link

Is there a specific optimized version of Win 7 for netbooks or
will the standard version be fine, assuming this can be installed
on a netbook via flash.

Yep, it should be doable, just google it. Installed x64 on my desktop and x86 on my laptop using a USB stick, got done a hell of a lot quicker too.

Yes, installed on a Dell Mini 9 and Samsung netbook via flash with no probs. Used the regular Win7 install. I actually tried to vLite it but I ran into some problems and just did a full install.

Get on a Vista machine and use diskpart to make the flash drive bootable, then just copy the contents to the flash drive and then boot to it.

ok, back in win Xp.

what does virtual clone drive mean by 'mounting the drive' ?

i twice formatted the flash drive . . . through windows and HP USB app.

re-installed win 7 on to it.

downloaded and installed virtual clone drive.

what do i do with VCD ? Clicking on VCD, i created a new drive (F). now what ?

The Asus 1000HE bios sees the reformatted flash drive but it still will not boot
from it. It literally asks for me to remove the media (drive) and press any key.
