I have decided to install windows 2000 on my computer which has Win98 right now. I went for a clean install. the installation went through without a problem. But after the first restart and the first startup of windows 2000 i got this message:
*** STOP: 0x0000007b (and so on)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

If this happens....:

check for viruses, remove newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers, make sure hard drive properly configured and terminated.

I checked for viruses and found none. I am guessing it is the hard drive controller. I found the drivers for the controllers. It is an Asus motherboard with a VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset. I found the drivers in the via website. Now how do i install the drivers?

I tried re-installin win2k and press F6 to use the drivers i downloaded and put in a floppy. but when i did it said it couldn't find txtsetup.oem file

the file i downloaded was a zip file. it was a 4-in-one zip file from the via website. and inside the zip file was a setup.exe file but there were also some folders. one of them was a IDEWin2k folder with a .sys,.dll,.cat,.inf files. those what were i put on the disk. I tried searchin for any .oem files in the expanded folder but found none. the whole extracted folder is 1.43MB.

Thank you very much for any help!!!

Try the most recent service pack (2) for W2K. I have heard that it corrects this. I think that this problem is caused by the ABIOSDSK.SYS file that shipped with Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
