I am trying to install windows xp on my one 17 gig hd. I put in the cd and start the installation. It stops in the middle of the copying files. I tried 3 different cd rom drives. 2 different copies of the OS and took out all my pci cards. My CPU is running at 42 degress. It just won't go all the way through. I have a Soyo Dragon Plus MB and 256 mb crucial mem. Can anyone help me. Thanks.

No it doesn't generate any error messages. All that happens is that it freezes in the middle of the dos part of the installation and at dfferent times

If you're using copies of the OS, you may have a media problem. If you're using an original CD, your problem probably lies in the BIOS settings although it seems odd that no messages are generated. Not much help I'm afraid. Sorry:(

Have you tried selecting the "copy all install files to hard drive" option during setup, so it puts all the necessary files on the drive and installs from there? I had a similar problem with one of the XP Release Candidates; Trying to install from the CD was unsuccessful - had to have it put the install files on HD first then go thru its install process...
