Installing Western Digital 320gb SATA Hdd

Hey there,

Just got myself a new Western Digital 320gb SATA Hdd and I'm having trouble getting windows to pick it up.

I am currently running Windows XP SP3 and my main hdd is and ide drive. Working fine and everything

Ive connected the power and data cable for the new sata drive and it shows up in the bios as SATA Slave1 (depending on which connection is used). But when logging into windows, the drive doesnt show up in My computer of when you Right Click on My Computer and click manage - disc managament.

So, how do I get it installed? Do I have to format the new drive and if so, how?

Thanx for any help/advice in advance.

I havent done anything to the new hdd drive as of yet in regards to formatting. I took it out the box and wired it straight up.

Regarding to mobo drivers, i dont have the disc anymore and struggling to find the drivers online for the board too.

Go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management, double click the Storage button and double click Disk Management. Do you see it in there? If you do, right click it and format it.

Nah VinylxScratches. It doesn't show up there. I'm gonna have another search about and see what drivers I can come up with. 🙂
