Installing water filter on granite countertop

So my kitchen has a 1 and 1/4 inch granite counter top. It comes with a Moen pull out faucet, and no hole to install faucet for water filter. Now wife wants to install an under sink water filter system. The one was used to have is this:

Now since the is no hole on the counter top, and the kitchen wall is tiled, what is the best way to install the water filter faucet? How easy and safe is it to cut a hole through the granite counter top without cracking it?

I thought about installing the faucet like a wall mounted beer tap.. but it is a tiled wall and wife doesn't want to remove any tiles.

Another idea is to run the water line behind the sink and the dish washer. Then drill a small hole on the side of the cabinet and run the water line back out and up along the counter top. This look really ghetto but is the easiness and safeness.. one hole and no need to mess with the counter top or the wall. Wife was rolling eyes when I mentioned this though.. =/

Thx BM. Just finished watching a YT video on using the diamond tipped hole saw and looked like it is pretty easy.

Initially I was thinking of a regular masonry drill bit for the job, that would have been very bad...

more specifically, a diamond coring bit is what you are looking for. go slow and keep it wet. should be pretty easy. be sure to check under before drilling, as it will not cut through the sink flange well, you may need to drill the flange from the bottom if it exists.
