Installing Vista on new hard drive

I have done this before, I just can't remember. I am installing Vista on a new hard drive, using a new DFI motherboard. Vista install is not finding my hard drive, it is recognized in the bios. It is set to IDE in the bios. I have the raid drivers on the floppy, but I do not have or know of anyone with a floppy. Anyone know where I can get the drivers that I can burn onto cd or onto a flash drive? It is a western digital drive if that matters. Thanks

There should be zero problem finding the hard drive if its controller is in IDE emulation mode for that channel. There's no need for drivers because Windows has built-in drivers for a standard IDE controller.

I'm not sure why you'd be using RAID drivers if you are installing a single hard drive in IDE model.

Also, Vista accepts drive controller drivers from USB or CDROM, as well as floppy disk. If you do need drivers for some reason, you can download them from DFI's Support site and put them onto a USB stick or burn them to a CD.

That is what I was thinking and thanks. When install gets to where you should be able to choose your hard drive to format and install, it says no hard drive found. It then asks me for the driver disk. I know I used to do this with XP when I first got a sata drive.

Vista includes all the drivers needed for IDE or SATA to get ya started.

Just because the drive is seen in the BIOS doesn't mean it's 100%.

I'd probably be checking the drive with WD's diagnostic disk.

If it is connected to PATA, is it jumpered correctly?
