Installing Vendetta 2 on Q9650

Hi,

I have never installing a Cpu cooler or putting Thermal paste.

Now i just got my new Q9650 with Ocz Vendetta 2 cooler with OCZ Freeze with Retention Bracket.

Where i'm wondering is the vendetta 2 is a direct heatpipe contact but there is groove between them.

What is the best way to put put thermal paste and how much i have to put?

So the trick is to fill the groove with thelmal paste (Ocz freeze in my case)
but i tought it's better to put the paste directly on the processor and not on the cooler itself.

I have that same cooler, and I eventually ended up buying a bolt thru kit. One of the push pins would simply never stay all the way in. I could tell when it worked its way out, because under load my temps were reaching 50-60 degrees, instead of the high 30s I usualy saw. It takes a substantial amount of force to get the push pins in too, so I never wanted to push too hard on them. So I ended up eventually dishing out the 8 or 9 dollars and got the bolt thru kit. You'll of course have to take the board out to mount it.

Of course, you could have better luck with the push pins than I did.
