It is, but I don't see that having anything to do with running out of space or imaging the drive. Very easy to clone with an extra SATA cable.

That BIOS (1.4) is like seven or eight versions/releases behind.

I wonder what harm that's likely to do?

I think there are bigger issues - almost daily the PC reboots on its own, as I've run it 24x7 for years with the cover off...

Hoping a cleaning might help with that.

It is recommended to not update your BIOS unless you are experiencing an issue the update fixes.

Since you have been fine for years and have only recently experienced issues, I would look more towards your SSD or OS.

But if you have started getting daily random reboots, don't rule out a power supply that is beginning to go out. If they don't just stop working altogether, they often cause system instability when they begin their march to death.

YMMV
I have an MSI board of that era. Their forums back then repeatedly suggested you NEVER update the bios. YMMV
Re the reboots: If the updates (look for updated AMD chipset drivers) haven't screwed you up, and the PSU checks out, motherboards of that era often have blown capacitors. Look for bulging caps on the motherboard after you clean out the heatsink and reapply thermal paste.
A mobo of that era I fixed: http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14659

** You have USB2 on that mobo, but since it's open just plug the newer SSD into the next SATA port and clone it. Macrium http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx is highly recommended on the forum.

Good luck,
Jim

I thought this was worth a separate post.
You will probably have to free up more space, at least temporarily, to do anything including completing the updates or cloning your drive to a larger SSD. I would look for 10 GB free space minimum and more if at all possible.
