Installing SSD in my Asus G750JS

i there guys. I want to install SSD in my Asus G750JS. What steps I need to follow.? How should I migrate my OS to SSD? Can I use my recovery USB to install factory image to SSD? And how should I know which HD has my OS? I have 2 HDs. I want to replace HD that has OS. Thanks.
 
Is this a portable laptop or notebook that can hold only 1 drive?

I assume you DON'T want to do a clean install and just intend to transfer a good working system from an HDD to an SSD.

If so, I'd use imaging, probably with Macrium Reflect Free Edition.

Use Macrium to make the image file of C and any other "system" partitions. Save that image file on some other drive--presumably an external.

Make a recovery disk or USB flash drive from within Macrium. Confirm that it will in fact boot the PC.

Remove the current HDD. Install the SSD to the same location using the same cables.

Boot from the recovery disk, which will take you to the Macrium interface. Navigate to your previously saved image on the external drive. Tell Macrium to restore the image to the newly installed SSD.

It should work. It may not. If it fails, you can try cloning rather than imaging, also using Macrium Reflect.

Have a Plan B in case neither cloning or imaging works--that would typically mean a clean install.

I'm not exactly positive what an "Asus recovery USB" is since I don't use pre-built PCs, but I'm guessing you could--assuming the SSD is as large or larger than the original hard drive. If it isn't, I'd guess it would fail due to a lack of space.

That would take you back to a factory state--as you bought it, but with an SSD. You'd lose anything you've added or changed since you bought it----additional programs, customizations, data, etc.

If you used an imaging or cloning program, you would NOT go back to a factory state---instead, the system would be as it is now--but with an SSD.

Ok downloaded Image of windows 8.1 from Microsofts website. And burned it to dvd. Do I need the key? Or it will auto activate? Is there any specific order to install drivers? Which one should I install first?
 
The Windows 8.1 DVDs from Microsoft does require a key to activate, and it probably will not accept your ASUS key. (I don't know why, but OEMs seem to get a "special" Windows keys that only work with their "special" copy of Windows.)

I would recommend removing both of your current drives, installing the SSD, and then try to reinstall Windows from your ASUS recovery USB. After that, put your old drives back in. If you can't install from the recovery USB, then go with ignatzatsonic's plan.
