Read your mobo manual about what RAM slots to use.

First test is - does it post?

More comprehensive test is Memtest86, on either bootable floppy or bootabe CD. Most critical Memtest86 tests are Test#5 and Test#8.

Hope this helps!

download a program called memtest. burn the iso to a cd or use a floppy. install the ram, and boot to the cd or floppy. run the tests for a few hours. however long you want. it will just keep going forever. if you get errors, make sure all your bios settings are correct. if they are, RMA the ram.

Just make sure you put them in the correct slots.

If you want to test the RAM, D/L Memtest and run that. Any errors means you have a problem. Now quite often just upping the voltage fixes this, but run Memtest and post back if you have questions/problems.

Make sure your PC is unplugged and not just off before installing.

Whoa there tiger, not so fast with the RMA advice. It is a well known FACT that 512 and 1gig sticks have issues with older NF2 AXP setups and usually the timings have to be relaxed from stock to get them to run stabily. If someone followed your advice for that setup then they might have gone through several RMA's before finding out it's their mobo, not the ram itself.

I agree that if you have a "modern" system and after ensuring the voltage, timings, and speed settings are all correct and they still don't work then call the tech line before you RMA. I tend to see RMA as a last resort as most of the time it is the user's issue and not the particular item that appears to not be working.

actually i'd reocmmend just turning the machine off but keeping it plugged in, so that the case is guarenteed to be grounded- so when you touch it you discharge any static electircity

you first should immerse the sticks in water to make sure they aren't electrically charged. Then, while wet, put them into your computer as per your MOBO manual and then promptly boot up.
