is it easy? i want to buy another 512mb. also, how many ram slots are available on the 9300? thanks!

Try downloading a little program from Bellarc (maybe one Belarc). Its called the Advisor and its free. Run it against your rig and it will tell you more than you ever wanted to know. It even indicated mine had SP3, kinda stange, but it does have all the fixes that will make up SP3 . It will tell you all about the slots on your mobo for memory.

I replaced my two 256MB DDR2 dimms in my inspiron 9300 for two 1GB dimms from Kingston. One chip failed after a while but Kingston replaced it and now everything works smoothly, especially Photoshop. Your laptop has two slots and they are easy to access.

There are 2 RAM slots in mine. I just put in a Crucial 1G stick that I got from ZZF for about $20 less in addition to the original 256M stick. Crucial.com has an online RAM advisory, use it to find your RAM type.

Edit: w00t, post #69 😀

Also, go to dell.com and search for "9300 service manual". The manual shows you how to access the RAM slots and other components.
