I've never heard of XP Ass Edition. Is that a new one?

Perhaps you just suck at Windows. I'm running Quake just fine.

You installed Windows XP to your ass? Fascinating....

What is it doing anyway when you try to install? If you can install it but it won't run, maybe try getting a hold of WinQuake. ::shrug:: I ran Quake just fine the last time I tried.

Everyone is soo mean...

and why the hate for quake??? It's only the best game ever!!! Except mabye doom2, doom2 kicked ass.

Anyways, it says something like quake wont run on WinNT.

Quake run fines in software mode in NT 4/ Win2K/XP just ignore the warning during the setup. All its saying is that Quake was not tested for NT. Now it?s in your best interest to install qlquake unless software mode floats your boat.

Have you closed all programs such as ZoneAlarm and Nortons? I know they will interefer with Quake installation. Good Luck!

In order to run Quake on NT based OSes you need WinQuake or (preferably) some derivative of GLQuake.

Quake runs fine on my XP box. I just ran the default install from CD. WinQuake is on the CD and installs automatically.

You could also try installing it in DOS compatability mode. I haven't installed Quake, but have successfully installed on Windows XP Redneck Rampage and the original Duke Nukem. They both ran without issue.
