I know this may have been discussed before but I think I have a different problem.

I finished installing windows xp, and it went me through the process and what not, adding computer name, date, time etc ... when it finished installing I restarted the computer ... and when it loads up (very slowly) it brings me to the text "Disk boot failure, please insert system disk and press enter" and when I add the system disk in (windows xp) I can't press enter becuase somehow the keyboard but not the mouse shuts off.

My second problem is for a laptop, I tried to reformat the computer and it has the blue screen and shows that it is executing files. Then it says setting up windows xp at the bottom and it stays there forever.

how big is your hard drive? And complete hardware specs would be nice.

I had somewhat similar problem and I changed the Hard Drive setting in Bios to "Large" and it solved it for a 200GB SATA Maxtor.

"Disk boot failure, please insert system disk and press enter"

If you've got a floppy drive, make sure there is no diskette in it.

How big is the hard drive? If it's greater than 120GB, I recommend partitioning the drive during XP setup so the boot drive (C:) is 120GB or less.

Download the WD diag utility, I think it's called "Life guard" and run it on the drive.

You need to list the make/model of both pc's you're talking about. And if any are no-name, then list the motherboard.

What model is the laptop? When you say "reformat", what exactly did you do?
