Installing new motherboard, problem with processor?

I am installing a new motherboard into a friends computer and I am taking the processor(p4) from the old motherboard and trying to put it in the new motherboard but it is attached to the heatsink. Is there anyway I can safely remove the processor from the heatsink? Thanks.

Yeah most ppl say just wiggle it and apply some force and it will come but if you have a problem run the PC with the CPU under stress and it will heat it up so you can remove it. The other option is to heat up the CPU with a blow dryer when its outside the case. Only problem with this is you have no way to judge what the temperature is so be careful. GL
