Installing new HD into Mac G4 desktop (OS9)

I am trying to install a new seagate IDE drive into a G4 desktop comp and OS9 is not finding the HD. I tried setting the jumper to master, cable select, and 32GB limit and no success.

I would appreciate any advice.

edit: got it sorted out -- had to initialize the disk. Thanks anyway!
