installing new hard drive

Senior member
hi guys,
I am trying to install a second hard drive. Device manager has found it but, how do i add the partition?

I am runnion Win XP. do i need a special program like partition magic to add the partition or does windows have a partition utility that I can use?

Please advise.

Hi Raj, you can go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, and then in Computer Management, go down to Storage > Disk Management. You should find your drive listed like this and now right-click on the unformatted space by it (represented by a white bar), and you can create and format partitions. If it was a dynamic disk in another system, right click on it where it says Disk 1 or whatever, and import it. Hope that helps 🙂

oh, and to get to the Disk Management quicker, all you need to do is right click on My Computer, and choose Manage, and boom it's there, right under Storage 🙂
