installing new hard drive

hi guys,
I am trying to install a second hard drive. Device manager has found it but, how do i add the partition?


I am runnion Win XP. do i need a special program like partition magic to add the partition or does windows have a partition utility that I can use?

Please advise.

Hi Raj, you can go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, and then in Computer Management, go down to Storage > Disk Management. You should find your drive listed like this and now right-click on the unformatted space by it (represented by a white bar), and you can create and format partitions. If it was a dynamic disk in another system, right click on it where it says Disk 1 or whatever, and import it. Hope that helps

oh, and to get to the Disk Management quicker, all you need to do is right click on My Computer, and choose Manage, and boom it's there, right under Storage
