Installing new hard drive

Hey,



I just bought a WD 80 gb hard drive, and I am trying to install it as a primary slave. I put in the right jumper settings and it is recognized in windows device manager, but it doesn't show up in my computer and I am not able to format it in DOS.

Does anyone know how I could get it to show up in my computer, and how I can format it in dos? I type format d: but it just says no such drive.
