installing new cpu and mobo

Build it Myself

Senior member
yeah, just thought I'd ask quick, when I load up and try to load from CD-rom to install the cd that came with the mobo, it's not loading the cd, it tries to go into windows and bsod's on me...do I have to take the HD out of the boot list in bios to get it to load the CD first? And in my last post someone said I might have to go with a new windows install as well, is this true? same question as before then, how can i get it to load from cd immediately? i've only ever done new builds with new components or simple chip swaps but the new mobo with old HD etc. seems to be throwing me here.

Thanks,

John

If you swapped in a new motherboard, I would definately reinstall windows. If you are trying to use a bootable CD ,Yes go into the BIOS and change the boot sequence.

If you can get things installed OK using the drivers on the CD, fine, but you should look for the most recent drivers on the internet before too long. The ones on the CD are probably outdated.
