Hi,
I was trying to update my bios and didn't have a floppy so i created a bootable cd for the v504 bios.

i put it in, boot from cd and then:

Boot from CD:
1: FD 1.44MB System Type-(0F0
Starting Caldera DR-DOS...

EMM386 3.27 Copyright (c) 1992, 1998 Caldera, Inc. All rights reserved.
EMM386: Warning: Address line A20 already enabled.

then it just sits there. its been like that for like 5 min so i guess ill restart.. wtf did i do wrong?

I read once some guy said he HATED updating drivers through windows. That's the ONLY thing I did with my floppy drive man! And I'm happy because I followed the instructions in my manual and didn't have any problems. In Canada, you can order one for $10 CDN from Compusmart.

I don't know why you can't do the same. You'll REALLY regret it if you screw up a BIOS update. Really, you'll have to order a new BIOS chip if you screw up and that's if you can get one.

You don't have to re-invent the wheel when makine bootable CD. Google and you will find many homepages offering free tools to make one. For starter try. Bart's

er, you cant put a floppy IMAGE on a CD

You can however put all the files from a win 98 startup disc on the CD, and add the awdflash and .bin file and use dos commands to manually flash
But you will still need to create the floppy somewhere to get at the 2 files

When i was building a dfi system a couple of weeks ago I needed to update the bios without a floppy. I posted on dfistreet and some kind person gave me a link to a bootable cd with all the bios files on it. This was fore a nforce4 board though bbut perhaps they have a similar image fore nforce3.

Hi, Roxio/Adaptec and Nero will all make a bootable CD for you. You will need to write an Autoexec.Bat file to get it to other things you want it to do after the boot. Check your burner Help. Luck, Jim
