Installing .NET Framework 1.1 when 2.0 is already installed

I am in the middle of updating a software package at work that will affect a lot of clients. All our clients are currently WinXP with .NET Framework 2.0 installed. The upgraded software package requires .NET Framework 1.1sp1. There is a warning in the software's installation instructions to uninstall .NET Framework 2.0 before installing 1.1.

I would really like to not uninstall 2.0 if at all possible - there are a lot of clients involved, and this would cause this task to become quite a bit more difficult and time consuming.

I've posted this on MS Technical Forums also - I'm hoping that between ATOT and them I'll be able to get the definitive answer.

I have installed 1.1 after a 2.0 install with no issues. But, no guarantee your specific software will be ok.
