installing linux application

Can someone please explain to me how to install linux applications? I tried installing vnc on my redhat 8.0 box.I right clicked the packeage and selected install package after that it seemed to install but I could not tell. After this apps are installed where do they go and how do I launch the application?

The package was installed if there wasn't an error message. go to a terminal and type (if you installed realvnc the type "realvnc" if it's another program just try the name of the program you installed, the base name that is). if it gives you a program error or starts something there ya go! if not, give us a call back here and someone will be sure to help ya

p.s. if it works I would recomend for you to type this "man realvnc" at a terminal (of course if you installed realvnc
