Installing Java 2 SE on XP Pro

I am having a problem installing J2SE, version 1.4.1, on my XP Pro computer. I have accepted all of the default setup and it goes to the installing screen and never leaves 0% done. The cancel button does not work on this window and I get an error screen:

An error has occured while launching the setup.
The remote procedure call failled.

Any suggestion?
 
do you have admin rights on the machine?
if yes, try to redownload the setup pack you have, it might be corrupted...
