This starts to bleed into something that should go into the "All Things Apple" forum, so forgive me if you think this moderator is posting off-topic.

But... one of my major irritations with the iPhone is iTunes. Overall iTunes does lots of cool things (built-in backups have saved me multiple times) but beyond the coolness, I've had issues with stability and upgrading and other weirdness in the past and I find the program to be pretty bloated with lots of features that I'll never use. In particular I've had really frustrating problems with Bonjour in the past and I was very happy to see a guide for installing iTunes that lets me get rid of it.

This article:
http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/the-...-itunes-10-without-bloatware/2390?tag=nl.e539

talks about how to install the features of iTunes that you need/want and skipping the pieces that you don't need (like, in my case, network streaming and quicktime and CD burning drivers and several features that I'll never use, but most especially getting rid of Bonjour by never installing it in the first place).

I like the way that it's written and I thought that I'd pass it along.

It's a contest between Apple and Adobe: who can install the most apps through one installer!

iTunes:
1. Apple Application Support
2. Apple Mobile Device Support
3. Apple Software Update
4. Bonjour
5. iTunes
6. Quicktime

i have yet to find one that works for the touch. wish Apple would let us use the damn thing as a usb drive like other players on the market.
