Installing driver side rear view mirror on 2005 Toyota 4runner

A couple of days ago a semi threw up a piece of metal on the freeway that dented the door of my 2005 Toyota 4runner and sheared off most of the driver side rear view mirror. I have purchased a replacement mirror assembly, but cannot find detailed instructions on net for how to install it. Looks like a major disassembly job on the inside of the door. Anyone ever done this -- say to replace the speakers in the door -- and do you know where there are good clear instructions for what needs to be done?

Thanks.

Look and see if maybe there is just a small piece covering where the mirror mounts.

Most door panels are held on by plastic clips. Start at the bottom and slowly pry the door panel away. Use a flashlight and look in the gap created. It should give you a better idea on how the panel is being held on.

There might be a screw near the door handle, window switches, or the door pull. Some times you have to remove the switches first.

Is there a junkyard near you that has a similar vehicle and will let you look or try it there 1st?

Last choice would be taking it to the dealer and just have them do the work.

edit: Try this CrutchField PDF for 2003 4Runner

Pick up a Haynes manual for your vehicle. They cost about $20 but give you detailed instructions on how to do things like this.
