Installing CPU in socket.?

When you drop the cpu into the socket, do you apply any pressure at all to the top of the cpu as you press the locking lever into place?

The CPU should drop easily into the socket after you raised the lever to its highest position.
Once the CPU is in place, you press the lever down. You don't need to be touching the CPU at all once it's in place.

I was thinking it might be necessary to press down lightly to make sure the cpu maintained contact with the thermal sensor.
