Installing Compiz on Dell Inspiron 5150

Alright, ubuntu is working great. But I can never ever get the fglrx drivers to install for my radeon 9000. Either i get a long list of errors and XLG doesn't work at all or I still have my mesa drivers and XLG is super laggy. I tried a few guides and they didn't work. Any of you guys have luck?

How about you do one at a time? Get the fglrx drivers working and then move onto XGL?
