Installing an SSD on a netbook

Are there any benefits to installing an SSD on a netbook? I'm seriously looking at the upcoming Lenovo S10-3t (Win 7 Starter, PineTrail Atom N470 @1.83GHz, 5400RPM HD). If it would help boot and application load times, I'd like to install a 30GB OCZ Vertex/Agility or the Intel X25-V 40GB, then maybe semi-permanatly installing a 32GB SDHC card for extra storage.

Is this a good plan, or will the Atom cpu cripple the advantages of the SSD?

Thanks.

its definetley alot faster.
I run a asus 1000he with a 30gb vertex turbo, the read/write is limited by its being sata 1, so its seem to top out at 125mb/s.
i used to run a seagate 320gb 7200rpm drive in it and the vertex was a huge improvement over that.

You'll definitely notice a difference. You just have to ask yourself if you can justify spending ~$125 to improve a $400 or whatever it costs machine that isn't meant for performance in the first place.

I'm looking for a <$700 tabletPC with 6+ "real" battery life. $500 for the S10-3t + $125 for SSD + $40 2GB RAM upgrade, I don't think I can get anything else close to that sort of bang-for-buck that's a tablet. Plus get ~$40 back for the selling the mechanical hard drive on the forums. That's my plan unless something better comes along in the next ~4 weeks.

I just did it for my kid and got a good bit more battery life. So, power consumption is another area of improvement for sure.
