I had a 10'x3', mainly for my dog's physical therapy, and found it doesn't have to be perfectly level. But what's just as important is removing any rocks, including very small ones, that can poke thru the pool once it's filled. Even if they don't poke thru, small rocks 1/4-3/8" under the pool bottom can be very uncomfortable to step or put a knee on.

The salt water system isn't to replace a filter. It's so you don't have to use chlorine. It works too.
