Installing a Second Hard drive

Ok, so I followed the directions provided by the wonderful people at TechTV, and I can hear it spinning and all now, but my computer is not recognizing it or something. It says I have to recognize it in bios if it doesn't do it automatically?

How do I do this?

Thanks!

at least the computer is still working!

I am trying to install a Western Digital 10GB drive.
Thanks

Computer:
Windows 98
1200+
192MB Ram

Thanks

(I don't know what kind of motherboard, any way to check without opening it again?)

most likely it will be a cable/master/slave problem

make sure the jumpers are right

if need be remove everything except the main hd and the new one

What he said.

Verify that Pin 1 on the cable is attached to Pin 1 on the drive and Pin 1 on the motherboard. Yes, the connector is keyed, but I've had cables with the connector keyed opposite the drive or motherboard mounting bracket. Also, make sure the cable is fully seated at the drive and the mobo. It only has to be slightly loose to make you crazy wondering why your drive isn't being recognized.

When you've verified that cable and jumper settings are correct, power up your computer. When the computer starts its POST sequence, hit whichever key takes you into BIOS setup. You should see the drive there. Otherwise, search for drive type or, if all else fails, enter the drive's info manually as a user-defined drive.
