Installing a P3 FCPGA heatsink?

It seems that this is the first FCPGA chip that you have seen. The 'metal thing' is the actual chip. Carefully clean of all the thermal compound. You should be able to see the actual chip. Apply a layer of good thermal compound, Arctic Silver is good, in a fairly thin layer. Arctic has directions on their site. The Heatsink is then attached to the Slotket or the Socket 370 if the mobo is equipped. You might need a BIOS upgrade to the mobo to support the Coppermine. Check it before you insert the chip as the Coppermine voltages are lower than older P3's.

Ah, yup it's the first one I've ever seen, I thought it'd look pretty much like one of the older Pentium chips, so the little metal thing on it threw me off a bit, thanks for the info!
