Installing a Mail Server (either Lin or Win) in a INTRANET? or how tos?

Well, I want to set up an email server in a Intranet I am setting up at home, anyone have any tips or sites that are detailed and will help me in doing this? Also, if anyone has done this, how do you go about using a @something.com name when youre only in an intranet? I know it is not possible once youre in the internet unless that is your domain.

How big is the intranet? Do you want it to be windows based?

For a simple easy to use setup go with ArgoSoft email server. Have it working on the internet as my own email server also.

One of the reasons I like their server is because of the support in newsgroup at

news://news.argosoft.org/argosoft.mailserver
