Installing a 9600 pro...

I'm running a K7ama moboard, athlon 1.4, windows xp pro. Downloaded what I believe to be the latest agp drivers for the board, installed, and garbage...

All I see is a couple of dots or some ugly lines. Any advice?? Pretty Please

Make sure you completely removed the old drivers before installing the 9600.

Make sure to set the resolution to (S)VGA before you install.

So the problem has evolved... I have gotten a bit further, or so it seems.

I removed the old drivers (Voodoo pci card), restart.
Shutdown and pop out the old card, put in the 9600 Pro.
Log on, cancel the auto hardware wizard and install drivers from ati cd.
Restart as told to.
Log on, everything is beautiful, as far as i can tell. The ati drivers show up under display drivers. All the ATI tabs appear when i go to display settings.
I get excited at this point.
I set the resolution and refresh to my usual, and restart for good measure.
I get sad at this point.
Black screen (after the windows xp splash screen).

Tried this same sequence twice. Once with the windows supplied agp drivers, and once with the agp drivers for the board (k7ama). Same deal.

Please help.... I thought I was so close!
