Hi All,
I am upgrading from my 3700 San Diego. My mobo is an ASUS A8N Sli Premium. I am wondering if there are any special tips or tricks to installing the dual core? I have read that to have the least amount of trouble I need to reformat my HD and reinstall XP. Apparently a simple swap won't work well. Is there any truth to this?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Some people are able to just swap the CPU in and have it function without a problem. I myself found I had trouble with some programs using this method......however it's definitely worth a shot, this method could save you some time if it works out.

I have the latest bios (not beta) so I'll try the swap and see what happens (fingers crossed). Are there any AMD programs/drivers I need to load?

What do the drivers do anyway?

fixes 99% with game crashes caused by running a dualcore.

If you are watercooling make sure to take off the thin plastic cover off the waterblock. I forgot to take off the thin plastic cover (that prevents scratches and oils to get onto the block) and wondered why my temps were so high, LOL. I could only overclock to 2450 (X2 4400+) and knew something was wrong. Went back and discovered my idiocy. Now I am at 2730 at 46C full load. PHHEWWWW. I am glad I didn't fry my chip, LOL.
