Installers can't access internet.

Really confused on this one. Basically as the title says, anytime a software installer and/or an updater tries to access the internet, it isn't able to. The internet works fine for just about everything else.

Probably a really simple fix, but any ideas?
 
sounds like a firewall problem to me.

I.E

Firewall rules =

Internet Explorer / etc - Allow
Other Installer / Updater / All other programs - Deny

Try disabling all firewalls and try it again - if it works find out which software is doing the blocking
 
I thought it was a firewall issue too, but I disabled it and that still didn't work.

Your suggestion did, however, lead me to the solution. No idea how it happened, but my internet options were setup to use a proxy. Disabled it and everything works fine now.

hehe not sure how you got to a proxy from that but glad it got your mind going in the right direction. Pleased its sorted all the same.
