Installed Wireless Network, Now my host computer won't shutdown!!!

Installed wireless usb cards in adhoc mode on win98se machines (2computers). Now my host just hangs at the splash screen and won't shutdown or restart. I updated to the shutdown patches and nothing works. Whats up?
