Installed Windows 7 on a new Intel X-25M G2 SSD... some questions

I just received and installed Windows 7 64bit on a brand new 80gb X-25M. I am aware of the TRIM firmware issue, so I did not update yet.

I just wanted to know what I tests I can do and run to make sure everything is running optimally and correctly.

So far:

I checked alignment - Alignment is correct

I use the SSD ToolBox - ToolBox shows my drive correctly and SMART is all green. However, it isn't able to do a manual TRIM (it says the drive isn't supported), but I assume this requires the new Firmware update.

What programs or tests should I run to make sure my write speeds are good, and read speeds are good?

Everything runs pretty quickly and boot up has increased and everything.

Unfortunately, perhaps my expectations were too high, but response time in Windows 7 compared to a 320gb 7200RPM HD is not as pronounced as I thought. With ReadyBoost (which now can no longer be enabled), opening apps were not significantly slower than now with the SSD.

Installs however, go by much quicker.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

I did the firmware update 'first' before the install...no problems whatsoever on that...as well I think it was hdtach or hdtune i used as well to see if it was reading/writing within average. I had to turn off indexing and i moved temp and tmp folder to another drive. Limited my page file but kept that on the ssd. I moved my ie8 temp folder as well. Turned off superfetch and prefetch. I had to do this because windows 7 didn't do it for me (not sure why) and not sure if that would do anything as opinions were either way on those last two things. I think win7 boots in about 10 seconds now...lol

oh I forgot. put the drive on ahci in the bios (or raid if you're going to do that at some point). opinion is that that is faster than regular ide for the ssd....but who knows on that...llol
Hope that helps

CrystalDiskMark.

By far the best quick test to see if things are in order.

Set it to the 1000 MB test for more reliable results.

That & file copies...i like to do real world testing sometimes ^_^
