Installed Nvidia 77.30 drivers, now WMP broken.

Installed the new demo of Battlefield 2.

During installation it installed nvidia's new 77.30 drivers.

Now when trying to view internet video and audio content with the Windows Media Player 10, the video doesn't playback and the audio stops playback after about 5 seconds. Then the WMP10 just stops responding.

Ideas toward solution?

Already tried:

1. Installing another set of Nvidia drivers, then reinstalling WMP.
2. Reinstalling the DivX codec.
 
Are you using Windows XP? If so, go back to a previous version of the drivers, and see if that works. You can get that option when view the hardware --> video card --> drivers.

with these new drivers it has caused all video (save games) to become white washed of like, even does it on my TV tuner.... most odd.
 
it's an overlay problem. try switching windows media player to video mixing renderer (options, performance, advanced, use high quality mode), click OK. that's one solution. as for other overlay devices such as tv tuners, just try screwing with overlay video controls in the forceware control panel. i have no problems with 77.30 though. i have a tv tuner and also use wmp over the net. i didn't notice anything washed out.

try installing the latest nvidia drivers (77.72). they also work fine with BF2.

what about your tv tuner? don't think it'll fix that...someone said...in the forceware control panel to switch from Standard to Advanced in the overlay gamma settings and that fixed overlay. no idea...that's just what i heard though.

be warned video mixing renderer can be a little slower if your card doesn't have the acceleration features like purevideo...but it does enable video acceleration for stuff like WMV HD so it's actually faster on cards that support it well.

It is a 6800GT, it supposidly has the hardware acceleration features.... or at least that is what is written all over the box.

EDIT: Went into the forceware control panel and reset it to its defaults.... the tv tuner problem is now fixed. Must have changed a setting and did not realize it.

Someone forgot to edit and restore the default settings when they were beta testing the drivers most likely.
