Installed new XFX5900, now computer won't work

hey guys, i am pretty new on the forums, wanted to see if anyone could help me out here...

setup:
antec true480
abit ic7-max2
p4c 2.6ghz
1gb of corsair xms

everything was working fine until i tried installing this new vid card, the xfx gefore5900 128ram. i uninstalled the old vid card's drivers (geforce2) and turned off the computer. installed the new card, and noticed that i am missing a 4pin power connector, they were all being used up connected to:
- 6 harddrives (2 scsi, 2 sata, 2 eide)
- 4 80mm fans
- floppy, 2 cd drives

so i unplugged one of the hard drives and plug it in the back of the xfx card. i pressed the power button and everything started up except no output from the card to the monitor... so then i turned it off, reset the cmos with mobo jumpers and turned it back on, the screen turned back on but it shows that i was running at 1.3 ghz... so i went into bios, verified that softmenu has everything at default (200 mhz -> 2.6ghz), saved, and restarted.

at this point i could smell like plastic burning so i turned it off. i waited overnight and tried to turn it back on, now everything starts up except the monitor receives to signal from the vid card. the vid card's fan works, though. i've also tried plugging back in the old vid card and still nothing. again, the old card's fan turns on, though.

at this point i have a feeling i messed up my psu, but i doubt that. a 480w psu should be able to handle my setup, correct? i don't know what else to do to diagnose my problem. its really awkward how when i press the power button everything starts up, but either vid card provides no signal...

Sound like you toast the AGP port. If you have PCI video card, try it and see you can get signal.

so you can burn out the agp port? hmm, how did that happen? last i remember, the soft menu's options were default with agpci ratio of 66:33 mhz, and 1.55 v to the agp card...

You can burn out about anything, don't ask

I really don't know how you burned it out. I would try the old card again along with reseating the memory and reset the cmos and see what happens.

i've tried the following after resetting the mobo through jumpers:

in all the cases below, the hard drives, fans, etc, turn on, there is just no output to the monitor.
- reconnected old agp vid card, nothing.
- connected a pci vid card, nothing.

i also checked if it was my monitor by plugging it to my laptop and it works perfectly.... =\

i ordered the ic7-max3 and made an rma request through abit's website...

any change this new vid card will burn the new motherboard, too?

did you disable the virus protection before you installed the driver? Go into safe mode and uninstall the driver, then reboot normally and disable the antivirus, then install the driver. Seen this happen a few times.

sorry, on second thought, you prolly had a bad card and it might have self-destructed. Your psu can handle that and much more.

Sounds to me like you set something wrong in your bios the last time around. Try holding the insert key down when booting to boot with default settings.
