I just upgraded my XP2000+ to a 2500+ and after installing the chip, I turned the computer on and got no video. I tried it on a diff monitor and still nothing. Everything else boots up as normal, but there's just a blank screen. Please help.

If I clear the CMOS would that revert my BIOS version to 1.0? In which case there would be no support for the 2500+ since it's only supported on later BIOS versions. Anyone know the freq/mult combo for the 2500+? I could manually put that in on the board itself. While you're figuring that out, I'll just go find it online somewhere...

And yes I've tried the connections a couple of times. :)

BTW What's the Barton look like? Just want to know they gave me the right one.

no clearing cmos won't revert back to bois version 1.0...it just puts every back to to default for that bois

Reset the CMOS, put the jumpers back to the way they were, and rererererererechecked the connection... End result: nothing. :(

Do you still have the 2000+? Have you tried changing back to make sure it works in that config?

Is reseating the same as taking out and putting back in? The thing is that the card sort of wiggles around in the slot. I'm trying to fix that but it's missing a screw so the part that sticks out the back of the case sort of swings around.... mb you know what I'm saying. It did that before though... no blank screens.

I guess it's time to put the 2000+ back in... I was hoping it was the graphics card since I did take that out also during the installation. Now I have to get the damn HSF off, replce the cards, and put that damn HSF back on, which should all take about an hour. :|

I'll go check with ASUS about this, probably write them an e-mail. Offhand, anyone know if the A7V333 is good with this chip?

maybe your mobo doesn't support it
the early KT333's didn't support the 333 FSB

I just checked the ASUS site again. It should work with the .13 Model 10. I have the latest BIOS, but - forgive me for not knowing what this is - I'm not sure about the PCB. Says I need 2.0. I think I'd have 1.1. This probably is the problem. Anyone know what they're talking about and what can be done to get from 1.1 to 2.0?

you should see the name of the mobo there with a rev number right on the mobo itself

man if the old processor was working before and now it's not working with the old processor something might be wrong with the motherboard. do you have another motherboard to test the processor. if so I would swap the motherboard to test

Unfortunately I have no other mb to swap with. I did swap vid cards just to be sure, and the other card didn't work either. And ASUS takes so damn long to fix their motherboards too...
