I just installed a Sony CRX-160E 12x-8x-32x CDR/W Drive this week...and I love it...but I digress.
I have a Gateway P3 500mhz PC with a Pioneer DVD-114 DVD-Rom drive installed. After installing the Sony CDR drive I noticed that I cannot get sound output from CD's played through the CDR Drive. The DVD drive outputs sound fine. I am not sure I hooked it up correctly so maybe that is the problem. I say that b/c the instructions that came with the drive say "connect per the manual for your sound card"....of course I don't have a manual for my sound card!!! Either that or maybe I have to set something on the PC to "let the sound card know" what is going on with the "Aux In"???
So here is how it is connected
(it powers up and burns CD's no problem - just no sound output)
The DVD drive is connected to one of the EIDE "ports" on the motherboard. I connected the CDR drive to the other one next to it. The DVD drive audio cable is connected to the "CD In" on the sound card. The CDR is connected to the "AUX In" of the sound card.
The sound card is a "Sound Blaster CT4830".
Please help me if you can. Thanks.
