Installed new Abit NF7, now my optical mouse LED won't turn off

I just upgraded my motherboard from an Abit VH6 to an Abit NF7 v2. I have a Logitech optical mouse (installed via PS2) and when the computer turns off the mouse LED stays on. Anyone know how to fix this, I don't want to burn out the LED on the mouse.

LEDs DO NOT BURN OUT 😀

LEDs are not like the incandesent bulbs we are all so used to dealing with. LEDs do not have the problem of burning out.

Didn't know LEDs don't burn out. I couldn't find any settings in the BIOS that seemed to relate to my problem (if anyone knows of any please let me know), so I plugged it into the USB and it works fine. I'd rather have it on the PS2, but oh well.

This behavoir is the result of the keyboard/mouse power on features most motherboards these days have.

For this feature to work the KB and/or Mouse must be powered up to detect keypresses/clicks. Some motherboards used to have a jumper to disable the power feed to the PS/2 ports when this feature was not wanted, however many seem to no longer have it...

Why not just leave it on the PS/2 port? Is the mouse constantly being powered up that big of issue to you?

I know that it drives me bananas when I turn something off and there is still a light shining somewhere. Sure LEDs don't burn out, but when I turn something off, I want it OFF. It's the principle of the thing.

There is a jumper on the NF7 board that will disable the led when the computer is off. I don't know exactly where, but it's near the agp port 🙂

There is a jumper near the AGP port, but there is nothing in the manual that says what it does. What exactly am I doing if I change that jumper?
