I've got a Pentium III 800 mhz PC with 256k RAM running on a Biostar M6TWJ motherboard running Windows 2000 - svc pack 1 IIRC. I bought and installed a LiteOn 24102b CDRW drive and installed it on as the main device on IDE channel 2. It is drive E since C & D are Hard drives. The drive can read disks after installation of the drive.

Then I installed Nero 5.5.3.0, which came with the CDRW drive. After rebooting and trying to read any CD in Explorer, I get the following message:

"E:\ is not accessable, Incorrect Function". Funny thing is I get a similar message for the floppy drive: "A:\ is not accessable, Incorrect Function". If I uninstall Nero and then "uninstall the drives"/remove the ribbon then reboot, then connect and reboot, the drives are accessable again. If I reinstall Nero, the error messages return. I also drived down loading Nero 5.5.7.8 and installed it. Same problem. Help!!!!

Update: I installed svc Pack 2 and all the other updates including the Security update. Rather than go through the whole anguish of having to disconnect the ribbon/uninstall the devices, reboot upteen times etc... I installed EasyCD 4 and it works. Guess that is the bottom line.
