I'm getting ridiculous CPU temperatures.

55'C + in the Bios @ idle.

The thermalright XP-120 heatsink doesn't work with this board btw. It covers up the AGP slot and dimm slots 1+2.

First I installed the stock heatsink after cursing alot. My temperatures on the stock heatsink were about 55'C - 58'C. I then dremelled my XP-120 to fit, and I'm still getting 55'C+ CPU temp with a big 120mm blowin down on it. Sigh... I ordered a Zalman that should be in tommorow, but I don't understand why my CPU temps are so high. Just the right about of AS5 and a motherboard temp of 28'C. Anyway, today has been nothing but frustrating.

Are you sure it's really that hot?

My K8NSNXP-939 says my FX53 is 12C, which is total BS.

The heatsink is slightly warm to the touch and nowhere near what would be considered hot, but it is most certainly not 12C.

Temp sensors have been known to be inaccuate on many boards.

I don't see how it could possibly be that hot. I don't feel scorching air anywhere near the heatsink. I'm installing win xp on it now and it hasn't hanged or anything like its overheating... It also jumps from 40-55 in like 30 seconds or it will jump in increments of 5, then drop by the same.

The 754 Neo1's also have a temp reporting problem. I think this is more of an issue with the chipset itself then the motherboard. I think the 939 giga also has temp reporting problems.

Dont worry about it too much and hope that a BIOS fix comes....

Sounds like the BIOS is fubar or the temp reader on the Mobo is fubar. Take your pick.

Not a good sign.

P.S. WTF is with the XP-120 not fitting? I talked directly to Thermalright and they indicated that it would work NP. It's even listed on their site as a motherboard that will fit the HSF. WTF?

Dont be alarmed its a known issue with some of these NVidia based boards and MSI. Some later BIOS revisions have fixes it for the K8T boards and some people have reported the same for Neo1s.

Shoot, I'd be surprised if my temp readings came back normal....
