Nero Vision is the only heavily threaded app i use.

I guess there is folding...

Or playing 3 games at once...

I'm still jealous :p

Edit:

BAN for not overclocking!

LOL - I'll tweak it :) don't worry!

I do use BOINC, so maybe I'll put 6 threads on that - game on 4 more, and let 2 free for virus-scanning, and other OS menial tasks ;)

DIRT is the only game I have seen that supports up to 8 threads. Still, I bet it would crash if you tried to run it. lol A 3.0+ 920 is plenty for it though.

Dragon Age: Origins is multi-thread scaling, no? Not as impressive as Dirt visually though...

The 5800FX would have been the most impressive with dirt. (think dust buster) hehe

I would base my purchase on gaming right now though. I do lots of rendering/encoding and can see the difference immediately. :)

Xigmatek vs. stock cooler - what do you think of the stock cooler ?

(unless you went for the OEM)

I got the OEM part - so no stock fan, although I've seen it and looks pretty impressive - finally a fan that's more fitting for the "Extreme" users :)

If I remember, it has 4 heat-pipes - so it may cool better than my S1283 - but I already had the Xigmatek :) this was a CPU drop-in upgrade :)
