I connected my floppy drive to the mobo with the floppy drive cable (in the right direction lol, I had a friend who fried his mobo for connecting the wrong ends), and connected the floppy to a power cable adapter which is plugged into a 4-pin IDE power cable. When I power my computer on, the floppy drive's light stays solid green. I tried to enable the floppy drive in my BIOS to 1.44mb 3.5" drive, but it doesn't work. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Sounds like you have the cable connected to the floppy drive connected the wrong way meaning pin #1 is not matching with pin #1 on your motherboard. You may have the right ends, but it you need to reverse the connector on the drive and plug it in the other way.

But that can't be... isn't the end of the floppy cable which has tears supposed to plug into the floppy, and the solid unbroken end into the mobo?

Yes, but I'm not talking about the direction of the cable im talking about the end of the cable, the connector. The acutal connector needs to be flipped at the drive. You have the direction of the cable right, but try flipping the connector on the cable upside down and plugging it in the drive.

Sheesh! A solid green LED on a floppy has always meant that the connector at the drive end was horizontally reversed.

No problem man. Glad you got it fixed . Horizontally reversed so much better wording than my confusing explaination. :)
