Purchased a VF700 AlCU off of fbrdphreak to install on my leadtek 6600gt. Installation was a little difficult, since this was my first experience with this type of stuff, but overall it was easier than i thought.

Temps:

Stock:
Idle - 40
Load - 79

VF700 (no OC):
Idle - 33
Load - 49

VF700 (579/1060):
Idle - 35
Load - 55

I'm thinking about OCing it more with my temps lowered so much.
Yay. Pics for your enjoyment.

I have the VF700 on a 9800Pro Modded to XT. VERY good cooler for any VGA card. For me personally the hardest part of the install was getting the stock HSF off!

The zalman was the best $30 investment I made. Not only does it cool better than any stock cooler I had, but it also fits so many cards I already used it on 3, and you can OC without worrying about temps.

My 9800np did 480/375 with one of those, up from 320/280. Can't complain about a 50% GPU OC....wonder if it'd fit on my 7800GT...

good job!

i recently put the vf700 cu on my 7800gt and it made a dramatic difference in cooling. i haven't tried overclocking yet. zalman makes one hell of a product. so far, i'm very pleased with the results. :)

I did that a year ago to my 6600gt, when the vf700 alcu first came out. IMO, the beauty of the Zalman hsf is lost on these cards, as it sits at a different angle & a large portion rising above the card. Though I've thought, if someone had one of the boards that did not place a pci slot next to the agp slot, I'd bet that Zalman could be mounted upside-down and fit just nicely.

very nice results. i too just bought a zalman, vf700-cu led for my 6800nu. my results:

stock:
idle : 50C
load: 74C (very toasty!)

with zalman:
idle : 43C
load: 57

these are the results with Rthdribl running fullscreen. very pleased with it :)

Nope, no ramsinks. Didn't want to go through the trouble of cutting them down to fit.

I've also been very happy with my V700, which is mounted to the X800XL.

I was going after silence, and origianlly got an Arctiv Cooler, but it interfered with my mobo chipset cooler. I did have to make a custom bracket to the Zalman, but I was able to get it installed easily and the difference in noise and temps is astounding.

I've been a fan of Zalman since the VF7000 series of CPU Coolers, and they certainly haven't dissapointed here.

My temps on the X800XL went from mid 70's to mid 50's, plus the card is near silent now.
