What does the torque curve look like?

It retains the stock torque curve. Just shifted upwards on the graph. The Dyno folks didn't rev to fuel cut (~8200) so it only made ~283 that day.

I've heard too many horror stories about blown diffs. I have no intention or desire to drag it. I used my Z06 and Miata for that lol. The S2000 has a glass diff, especially when more power is added.

The best stock time I know of is 13.68, while most people run high 13s. So adding another peak 100whp should be good for at least low 13s like you said. Once or twice lol.

Ahh, didn't know about that. That's the one nugget of knowledge I can claim for today.

Very nice in any case man - enjoy it!

I think with some slicks you could dip into the 12s

Perfect reason to rebuild with an OS Giken? ;)

I didn't realize an effective aerodynamic part is considered rice... ;)

Id love to have extra money to afford to race. I had an S2000 once as a daily, F that. Went to a BMW/Miata combo, auto-x the miata but it just wasn't the same as the S2000.

The miata is cheaper to race in the long run, but I like the reliable 100+ hp the S2000 has for the thrills.

I'm debating on going Sport Sedan as my next car, or do the 2004-2005 S2000 with an economy car

That's what I'm doing at the moment. Saving up for a Z06 :whiste: I might sell both my civic and s2000 for a Z4M though. Haven't decided if I'll get a Coupe or a Convertible. I'm leaning towards the Coupe as it looks amazing, but it's really hard to find and is priced higher. The convertible is easier to find and much cheaper while being essentially the same car.

Decisions Decisions...

SC or turbo that Miata. Stock engine/transmission is good for 250whp reliably, or so I'm told.

You could.

But with that twice the power the car was designed for, you're gonna spend much more money on that Miata trying to emulate an S2000, when you could just buy a cheap AP1 for 10k and track the tits off of it, while doing routine fluid changes.

Maybe... It all depends on how you go about it. I haven't spent anywhere near $10k on my turbo Miata and it's been pretty good to me so far. Granted I don't do long track days with it.

FWIW the B6ZE and BP Miata motors are both derivatives of a turbocharged engine and retain the features needed to support that sort of power level. The only two things that would really need upgrading for track use would be the radiator and clutch.

To each his own though!

did the mods delete a ton of the posts? I could've sworn this thread was like nearly 5 pages long...

EDIT:
Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm on TCL or AT forums.. oops. But the response here is much more positive :p. Sigh, I lost my TCL account many years ago.. I don't remember the username/password, and if I create an account now, I'll be called noob :p.

Anyways, I can finally comment on this... yay. I like it, since it is functional, and you're being responsible by having fun with it on the track. Car looks great, and I really dig the hardtop.

Yeah that thread turned into a 6 page piss fest.

Thanks!

Look at the wings on the C5R

and the Viper ACR

http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/Dodge/2010-Dodge-Viper-ACR_Coupe-Image-001-1280.jpg

and the M3 GTS

http://www.lincah.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/2010-BMW-M3-GTS-Rear-Spoiler-View-800x600.jpg

etc...

OP says he's tracking this car, and at speeds of 100+, that wing goes from questionable DD styling cue to epic safety/control component :D

I have the same diffuser. I think my car sits lower than yours in the rear and I drive it on seriously bumpy backroads. I've scraped it more times than I can count and had to do some repairs to the hardware, but it's holding together, and I think it makes a difference in high-speed rear stability. On smooth roads the ground clearance isn't an issue, obviously. Looking forward to my next track day, too.

By the way, Gladman is working on a full-underbody tray and a front splitter, plus side pieces to compliment the rear diffuser. But you probably already knew that. :)

I also have his solid one-piece front strut tower bar, which is functional if you are running a lot of spring rate.

Lastly, stock exhaust is closer to 50 pounds than 80, but that doesn't stop a Ti single exhaust from being a good mod. I did it, too. I can't decide if setting off car alarms is a bonus or a downside.
