i have a dfi lanparty nf3 250gb board, with a64 3000+ retail. xp-120 hs with 120mm panaflo. three other panaflos in the case (including psu).

1 pioneer 16x burner, 1 80g western digital 7200rpm special edition.

up until today i had a 9500 64mb radeon, and upgraded to the 128mb gigabyte 6800 card (one without heatsink).

when i try and start the machine up with the new card, the system fans spin momentarily then stop. occasionally ill hear a beaking screeching noise along with it.

the power supply is a 300w enhance.

im pretty tech savy, but havent played with the new higher consumption cards. is this typical of a system whose psu cannot support the new video card? or maybe something else.

yeah it sounds to me like that 300 watt isnt enough to pull that load. that cpu is pretty power demanding itself. id get a good 500 watt antec or other good brand
