Hey all. Yesterday I did a round of upgrades, part of which was replacing the 4/4/24 CD-RW drive in this box with a brand new 12/10/32 CD-RW, and moving the old one to another box.

Now here's the problem: The old CD-RW appears to be working just fine, but when I open up Nero 5.5, it says the maximum write speed is 2x! I was able to burn at 4x before, so what is the problem? Has anyone else here had this happen?

Relevant specs:
CPU: Pentium 3 866 MHz, running at 1040 MHz
Chipset: Intel i815e
RAM: 384 MB
OS: Windows ME

Burner is secondary slave. Secondary master is a 4x CD-ROM. 40-wire cable connected directly to motherboard.

Try making the burner as the master for now and then place the CD-Rom as Primary slave. Make sure all DMA's are enabled. Also try burning from the HDD and see if this will change the speed record of the burner.
